AHIMA President Kathleen Frawley dies at 63
AHIMA Board President Kathleen Frawley Dies June 28
An AHIMA member for more than three decades and vice president of legislative and public policy services for the association from 1992 to 2000, Frawley most recently was a professor and chair of the HIM technology program at DeVry University’s campus in North Brunswick, N.J.
The family has announced it will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on July 1 and 2 at Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home in Cedar Grove, N.J. (shookscedargrove.com), with the funeral on July 3 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Verona, N.J.
AHIMA will establish a scholarship in Kathleen Frawley’s name to honor her contributions. “Kathleen had an inspiring and unwavering belief in the importance of health information management and how AHIMA members could lead the profession,” says AHIMA CEO Lynne Thomas Gordon. “She touched the lives of so many of her colleagues in HIM, AHIMA members and her students. She will be missed by the entire AHIMA family.”
Angela Kennedy, president/chair elect for 2014, will immediately succeed Frawley, who began her one-year term in January.
